Every month we like to share with you our Vectis Champion, a Southern Vectis colleague who has gone above and beyond his or her line of duty - whether they be drivers, engineers, office workers.
This month was a tough one, with 4 valient efforts picked from 15 strong nominations, all in contention for the award. However, one nomination in particular resonated with all of the deciding board and Vectis Champion was awarded to Ali Valyani.
A bus driver, Ali was approached by a customer while on route to say that another passenger looked to be unwell. Ali pulled his bus over and went to see if he could assist.
He found the gentleman slumped at the back of the bus, cool to touch and not in a good way. Acting fast, Ali began to administer basic first aid and called for an ambulance while he made the gentleman comfortable – massaging his heart while he waited for the paramedics to arrive.
The paramedics thanked Ali for his kindness and quick thinking, and said that he had most definitely saved the gentleman’s life.
Ali joined the Southern Vectis team in 2015 and has received many compliments for his kindness from you, his customers.
Well done Ali!

Your nominations matter! Many of our conscientious team members don't report back their acts of kindness and heroism - for them it's all in a day's work! So please do share your experiences and help us reward those who go above and beyond.
