We're proud to show our support for local athletes by providing them with free bus travel across the Isle of Wight.
We'll be backing six young sportsmen and women for future success by signing up to support the Talented Athlete programme, co-ordinated by The Isle of Wight Councils Sports Development Unit.
“These young athletes are an excellent example to others across the region and the rest of the country,” said Southern Vectis general manager, Richard Tyldsley.
“Their commitment and drive make them tremendous prospects for the future. We are providing travel on our buses to help them reach their training sessions and competitions.
“It seems only right that we match their determination with extra support. We wish them every success for the year ahead - and we’ll be following their progress very closely.”
Ethan Walters, rowing competitor, said: “I would like to thank Southern Vectis for their bus pass that easily allows me to reach facilities that are vital for my development as a rower.”
And swimming prospect Grace Poynter added: “The bus pass has been really helpful in making me more independent and making my training more accessible.”
Charlotte Morris – shooting starlet, said: “The bus pass enables me to get to fitness and strength training sessions. Without it, I just wouldn’t be able to train as hard as I do - so it’s essential for me.”
Sports development officer Alec Broome, “We are delighted Southern Vectis have once again supported the talented athlete scheme, I know from speaking to the athletes and their parents that being able to travel to and from training venues independently is a huge benefit.”
