Go Ahead Group-owned Southern Vectis has been showing its support for the Isle of Wight’s very first Pride festival.
The local bus operator provided two open-top buses for the celebrations on Saturday - and they attracted a lot of attention as they took their place in the parade, fully decorated for the occasion.
“We were delighted to be involved in this very special inaugural Pride festival,” said Steve Roscoe, Southern Vectis operations manager. “This wonderful island is fast becoming known for its tolerant and welcoming community. And it was great to see this in action during the festivities at the weekend - with many like-minded local people, associations and businesses involved.”
The festival was an opportunity for those living on the Isle of Wight to take pride in how far the island has come, in terms of its support of the LGBTQ community. There is still work to do but the event’s organisers wanted to highlight the area as a great place to live - and a friendly destination for everyone.
“It is important that we all support the drive towards universal equality, and ensuring Southern Vectis has a prominent presence in this significant parade was our chance to do just that,” added Steve.
