Mother's Day Treat

Monday, March 13 2017

Being a mum is a 24/7 job; cleaner, cook, nurse and bad dream fixer all in one! So why not treat her this Mother’s Day to say THANK YOU for everything she does?

Because we want to see lots of Mum’s out enjoying themselves this Mothering Sunday we’ve tried to make it easier for you. We will be providing complimentary travel for mothers travelling on our buses on Sunday 26th March - as long as they are accompanied by a child buying a 24 hour Rover ticket (p.s. we don’t mind if it’s actually mum who pays).

“Mother’s Day is about spending time together as a family - and many children like to treat their mums to a well-deserved day out - perhaps into town, to the cinema, or for a meal,” said Southern Vectis Head of Communications, Nikki Honer.

“Southern Vectis wants to help them do this by providing transport for their special occasion. Our team is looking forward to seeing lots of mums out and about, being treated by their children on 26 March - and we hope they all have a brilliant day together.”

Looking for some inspiration? Here are some ideas to help get your Mother’s Day planning started:

Sun shining?

  • Why not enjoy a beautiful walk along one of the Island's award winning beaches. Hop on a route 2 or 3 to Sandown Beach, one of the Isle of Wight's finest and most recognised beaches, or head East on route 7 to Yarmouth bus station and hop on the open top Needles Breezer up to the Needles Battery - one of the best bus rides in England and a great way to blow away those winter cobwebs. Yarmouth is also great for special places for food and drink including 'Offtherails' housed in the disused Yarmouth railway station and platform.

  •  Catch a route 8 and spend a fun filled day at Robin Hill Adventure Park, just opened for the season with new attractions such as the Squirrel Run.

Rainy day?
  • Jump on one of our many routes into Ryde town centre and aim for a strike at the Ryde Superbowl where you'll find a family friendly 22 lane bowling centre with cafe, bar and children's play area plus the chance to play Laserquest. Routes to Ryde include the 2, 3, 4, 8, and 9.

  • Or head out of town to Wootton on Route 9 via Staplers and give mum a treat with a ride on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway - every mum who takes a steam ride will receive a special gift of spring flowers ! They also serve great food in their Refreshment Rooms.

So, remember the date; Sunday 26th March, check out our many routes around the Island and get planning your Mother’s Day outing today (before it’s too late!).
